Aboard the gold line train (light-rail) heading into union station, downtown los angeles. There is a lot of backround whoosh coming from the air-conditioning that was running quite heavily. Stereo, 24bit, recorded via handheld recorder.
The tempe light rail leaving the station near mill ave/arizona state university. Its not a subway, nor a monorail, nor does it run on light, but it does transport humans from a to b. Recorded utilizing a zoom h4n field recorder.
This high quality recording is of a cargo logistics train leaving the port of fremantle, pulling many, at least 50, sea containers on rail-cars through a railway crossing on a bend, curve of the line. You can hear the signal bell on the drop gate with flashing red lights and the steel rail-car wheels screeching on the curved track.

Postprocessed to normalized 16/44. 1 stereo pcm with cooledit 2000, flac-encoded. An electric light rail train approaches i-25 & broadway station while ringing its bell in rhythm. It stops. Doors open, an announcement plays, doors close, and the train departs.

This sound took me a while i used warehouse machinery at the beginning as the gun is turning to its target and when it finished with an alarm and light sound indicating its powering. The charge & fire sound is all synthesis layered several sounds on top with each other also using eq, compressor ect.
A short journey on london overground train from dalston to highbury and islington passing through canonbury. Recording includes ticket barrier noises, doors opening and closing and general announcements. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is some processing to this recording to ‘normalize’ the levels and light eq-ing. I do not require any credit or attribution.
